

About the Positive Cup
The Positive Cup is an ambitious set of commitments that Nespresso launched in 2014. These commitments aim to make every cup of Nespresso a positive cup by 2020. Building on major progress under the Ecolaboration™ vision, The Positive Cup focuses on improving farmer welfare and driving environmental sustainability in coffee sourcing and consumption.

100% Sustainably sourced coffee
Since 2003, Nespresso’s AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program has grown to have 62,000 coffee farmers under its wings. Today over 85% of Nespresso’s green coffee is sourced through this program, with a goal to reach 100% by 2020.

100% Sustainably managed aluminium
>Nespresso’s recycling capacity was over 76.5% in 2014 and the company is committed to expanding its capacity to collect used aluminium capsules to 100% by 2020. Thanks to this recycling initiative Nespresso can give a new life to their capsules.

100% Carbon insetting
Since 2009, Nespresso has reduced the carbon footprint of each cup by 20%. Nespresso has devoted itself to becoming 100% carbon neutral by 2020. Nespresso aims to achieve this through an extensive agroforestry programme and insetting its residual operational carbon footprint.
