What device is right for my child?
Sometimes it’s tricky to know what device your child needs for school. That's why we've made it simple. Whether your child is starting Year 4 or needing a device for high school, we’ll help you find a device that’s school-ready and built to last.

Helpful tips to finding the right device:
Screen - Your child will be using their device all day, so a screen between 11 and 14 inches offers a good balance of comfort and easy handling between home and school.
Storage - To make sure there’s enough space for school apps, files, and updates, we recommend at least 128GB for Windows or macOS devices, and 32GB for Chromebooks.
RAM - Devices with 8GB of RAM or more will run more smoothly, especially when your child is multitasking or using several apps at once.
Battery life - A battery that lasts 8 hours or more means your child won’t be stuck looking for a charger during the school day.
Weight - Backpacks fill up fast - books, lunch, PE gear. A lightweight device can help keep things more manageable, especially for younger students.
Durability - For extra peace of mind, consider devices built to military spec. They’re made to withstand everyday knocks, drops, and spills.
Smart extras that make a big difference
Once you’ve chosen the right device, a few smart extras can help protect it and support your child’s learning. Consider a sturdy case, designed to shield against bumps and drops - especially important when devices are carried in busy school bags. For added peace of mind, a damage protection plan can help cover unexpected accidents and save on repair costs. If you’re choosing a tablet, an external keyboard can make typing more comfortable and productive. And for creative tasks like drawing or handwriting, touch screens and styluses can make learning feel more natural and support better focus and memory.
